Is Sarkodie Trying To Bring “Azonto” Back?? (Check Tweets)

Artiste: Sarkodie

Ghana’s most decorated rapper, Sarkodie seems to have an agenda to bring back “Azonto.”
In his recent tweets and hashtags been monitored by kppromotionsgh.com, the rapper is always posting something about the genre and dance “Azonto.”

“Azonto”  was a dance and music genre in Ghana which was originated in the year 2010 and became more popular Worldwide in 2012 but it faded so fast.
Other music genres, however, can also be used when dancing “Azonto”.
The “Azonto” genre automatically came with a dance and that made it more interesting.
It was basically a street term in Tema, a city in Greater Accra of Ghana, which was used as a rude reference for wayward girls.

The dance involves a set of hand movements that either mimic everyday activities or are meant to amuse an audience. It began with one- or two-step movements but has been advanced to more complex and almost acrobatic movements.

“Azonto” was developed amongst the youth as a cathartic release, it an arcane expression of freedom and to communicate through the dance.

Ghana’s  most influential artiste, Sarkodie who was arguably the originator of “Azonto” genre on his social media platforms has been posting more about Azonto this days.

He has been tweeting about Azonto which obviously indicates, he is having the agenda to bring “Azonto” back.

He recently released his brand new song dubbed “Fa Hooki Me” which features Tulenkey. It has the “Azonto” vibe and beat.
Azonto beats are normally in a fast pace African rhythm.

It’s so sad, Ghanaian musicians couldn’t maintain the “Azonto” genre, we sometimes miss the good fun moments with Azonto.

Sarkodie is now calling on all Ghanaian musicians to join this agenda to bring back “AZONTO”
